Wills are for everyone and fwdlaw believes that everyone should make a Will; being married is no substitute for a Wil
As well as deciding what happens to your property after your death, your Will can protect the people you love:
- It can give your partner rights they wouldn’t have otherwise, especially if you are not married
- It can appoint guardians for your children and step children
- It can set out your wishes about how you want your body to be treated - such as organ donation and funeral wishes
- It can save the people you leave behind the worry of dealing with complicated legal and financial matters
- It can also save them paying unnecessary tax on what you leave
- It gives you peace of mind, knowing everything is organised and you are prepared for whatever may happen
You especially need to make a Will if:
- There are individuals who could make a claim on your estate when you die, for example if they depend on you financially
- Your permanent home is not in the UK or you are not a British citizen
- You live here but own property overseas
- You own all or part of a business
- You are in an un-married partnership

Probate
When a loved one dies we can offer help and advice to assist you in dealing with matters at this difficult time.
Our service includes assistance with making applications to the Probate Registry for Grants of Representation and dealing with completing any Inheritance Tax Accounts.
Powers of Attorney
Appointing someone you trust to look after your affairs if you should lose mental capacity is a worthwhile exercise even though it is made with the hope that it is never needed.
We can also give advice and assist if a family member should lose mental capacity whether they have made a Power of Attorney or not.
